Eleven people, including seven women, were killed when a Mumbai-bound express train rammed into an auto-rickshaw at an unmanned railway crossing near Jamnagar on Thursday, according to the police. The Saurashtra Janta Express hit the auto-rickshaw at approximately 2.15 pm near Jaliya station in Dhrol taluka of the district. All the deceased were passengers of the ill-fated auto, which broke down on the tracks, they said.
A deputy chief ticket inspector was assaulted by a group of sixteen youths from Chembur, all aged between 16 and 19 years.
In an attempt to provide better hygiene and ensure passenger comfort, Western Railway has introduced house keeping facility in long distance trains.
